One of the most influential coffee events in the world is the World Of Coffee (WOC) conference, which is held once a year in different cities and gathers the most reputable members and highest quality products in the coffee community. From July 23-25 2022, this was organized in Milan, Italy and was certainly an event not to miss!! A three (3) day pass for this event was price at 60 Euro. Hopefully this blog can let you know whether the price was worth it or not. Firstly, after the ticket purchase a WOC event app was available for download offering the following convenient features.
The event floor plan:
- Competition Areas: The stages were divided in each relevant part of the hall.
- SCA Education Hub: The classrooms and workshops for coffee knowledge.
- Roaster Village: The sharing and promoting area for coffee shops and roasters.
- Product and Innovation: Showrooms and new innovations of the coffee industry.
- Coffee Farming Distribution: Promoting the green beans from every part of the world such as Ethiopia, Guatemala, Kenya, Brazil, etc.
On any day of the event, one can obtain their badge along with a souvenir bag from BWT and then decide on various any coffee sample cups poured freely by the numerous suppliers. In my case, routinely passing by Guatemala samples were a perfect choice on my way to the SCA classes. For detail please follow this link : https://worldofcoffee.org/schedule-of-events
Of all the classes offered, the “Science of Milk” was among the most popular, which I will share in a future blog**. The knowledge learning was continually offered throughout the 3-day event and the below list is just a sample:
One of the most notable learnings from these classes was how much water can change the life of your barista. Specifically, how water is so important in the world of coffee and the fact that a single cup of black coffee is influenced only 10% from its equipment, 10% from its barista, 40% from its coffee beans, and most importantly 40% from its water, hence why water is to be the focus area for great tasting coffee.
On a typical day, after having lunch in the conference hall, there were various Cupping rooms opened by CQI (Coffee Quality Institutes). On day 1, they shared collected samples of Fine Robusta from various parts of the world which surprised everyone’s taste buds. Convincingly, this specific 10-sample room was surely a result of proud farmers and developers.
Ending this day with not only several cups of coffee but also more scientific knowledge about the industry than one can ingest. Days 2 and 3 were followed in the same overwhelming fashion.

Hopefully this story along with the attached photos helped better describe this most famous coffee event in the world and has been convincing enough to not hesitate attending next year’s World Of Coffee (WOC) event in Athens Greece. #Passionrista #WOCMilan #Worldofcoffee #SCA
